Chapter 250
Ambrose couldn’t help but feel smug. “Todd’s just a fool. He relies too much on his background and doesn’t know how to manage a company.”
Denny nodded in agreement. “You’re right, Mr. Vale.”
Ambrose grinned. “I’d love for him to come to Arizona. Without Stuart around, he’d be much easier to handle.”
“Yeah, Todd being away from Stuart would be a great opportunity,” Denny said.
Ambrose’s smirk widened. “I can’t miss this chance. Denny, get someone to gather more info from headquarters. I need accurate news on all fronts.”
“Got it,” Denny replied.
By noon, Alaric and Stellan had returned to Arizona. After a quick bite, Alaric dropped Stellan off at Reassuring Clinic.
“Don’t overwork yourself,” he reminded, leaning in for a brief kiss. “I’ll pick you up in the afternoon.”
“You, too,” Stellan replied, her tone filled with concern. “I’m mostly focused on drug research, so it’s not too tiring. But you have a lot on your plate, so take care of yourself.”
Alaric smiled softly. “Don’t worry.”
The entertainment center project was nearing completion, and Alaric was swamped with preparations. Once finished, it would be the largest of its kind in the country, drawing media attention like never before. Although it hadn’t opened yet, leaked design details had already sparked widespread interest.
“Mr. Knight, here are the promotional materials and the opening day schedule for the entertainment center, ready for your review,” his assistant said, handing over a stack of documents.
Alaric glanced through them, nodding. “Not bad.”
“Mr. Knight, even though the entertainment center is already popular, the operations department suggests hiring some famous stars as promotional ambassadors to boost its reputation.”
“Sure, let them handle it,” Alaric said, his focus already drifting back to other matters.
“Okay, I’ll inform them.”
“Alright,” Alaric said, quickly returning to his work.
The entertainment center was a sensation, both domestically and internationally. The media predicted it would become a new landmark in Arizona. For such a big project, hiring stars for promotion was a smart move.
In the following days, Alaric was busier than ever, and Stellan often saw him exhausted.
One evening, Stellan decided to give him a massage. Alaric lay on the bed, his eyes closed in relief as she worked on his shoulders.
“I told you not to overwork yourself, but you still take on so much,” she scolded softly.
“I can’t help it. The entertainment center’s opening is so close, and there’s a lot to do,” Alaric responded with a sigh.
Stellan frowned. “Even though this project’s been going on for a while, I’ve never visited it once. Today, I saw some photos online, and it looks amazing.”
She glanced at him, her eyes bright with admiration. “The facilities look fantastic. Once it opens, the kids are going to love it.”
Alaric smiled. “Before the grand opening, I’ll take you and the kids on a tour. There are parks and lots of fun activities inside.”
“That sounds great!” Stellan said, her excitement palpable. “Not just the kids, I’m excited too.”
Alaric’s smile grew warmer as he looked at her. “Since you’re so excited, I’ll make sure you have a great time before the official opening.”
“Really?” Stellan’s voice softened, touched by his consideration.
“Of course, sweetheart. It’s the least I can do.”
Stellan teased, “Alaric, you’re getting more and more charming.”
Alaric laughed. “Only for you. I wouldn’t bother with anyone else.”
Stellan couldn’t help but laugh. The moment felt perfect, and she leaned in for a kiss. Just as their lips were about to meet, the door suddenly burst open.
“Daddy, Mommy, Caspian and Harry are fighting again. You need to…” Elisa’s words trailed off when she saw the scene. Her face flushed, and she quickly exclaimed, “I didn’t see anything!” She hastily closed the door.
Alaric and Stellan stared at the door, completely embarrassed.
A few moments later, the door opened again, this time with Elisa covering her eyes. “Daddy, Mommy, can you lock the door next time you want to kiss?”
“Didn’t you know to knock before entering?” Alaric asked, his voice amused despite the awkwardness.
Elisa responded with a shrug. “I forgot this time, but you should lock the door next time. It’s better for everyone.”
Stellan and Alaric were left speechless, and Elisa kindly locked the door for them as she walked away.
“I forgot the kids were still at home,” Alaric said, shaking his head with a smile.
“Next time, we really need to be more careful. They’re too smart for their own good,” Stellan replied with a sigh.
Alaric chuckled proudly. “Yes, they’ve inherited our high IQ. I’m impressed.”
He leaned in for another kiss, but Stellan gently pushed him away. “Being interrupted like that… I’m not in the mood anymore.”
Alaric sighed dramatically. “But it’s not my fault. You can’t punish me for that.”
Stellan shrugged playfully. “Don’t you know? A child’s mistake reflects a father’s failure to educate them properly. So, it’s your fault.”
“Alright, I accept that,” Alaric said, his tone resigned.
Just as he finished speaking, his phone rang. It was Silas. Stellan frowned, clearly irritated. “Reporting work so late?” she muttered.
“The entertainment center’s about to open. I can’t help it,” Alaric said as he answered the call.
“Mr. Knight,” Silas began, “regarding the stars for promotional ambassadors, the operations department has decided that we should hire one male and one female. I’ve sent the preliminary candidates to your email. Please make the final decision.”
“Got it,” Alaric replied, nodding as he checked his phone.
After hanging up, he turned to Stellan. “You get to decide which two stars we hire.”
Stellan hesitated. “But I don’t watch many shows, so I don’t know a lot of stars. I can’t help you with this.”
Alaric smiled reassuringly. “It’s fine. Just pick the ones you like at first glance.”
“Are you sure?”
“The operations department has already screened them thoroughly. Any choice would be reasonable. It’s up to you,” Alaric said, his tone calm and encouraging.
“Alright then,” Stellan agreed, sitting beside him as they scrolled through the list of names.
Then, her eyes widened when she saw one of the names.
“Rowena!” Stellan exclaimed, her voice laced with surprise. “Is that the Rowena?”
