The Comatose Billionaire’s Bride(96)

Chapter 96: A Night to Remember

Galatea lay on her bed after returning home, her fingers gently grazing her lips. Unconsciously, she smiled to herself, her thoughts drifting back to the kiss she had shared with Alaric earlier. It was a soft, sweet kiss, and it had left her heart fluttering.

“Mummy, weren’t you supposed to be sleeping? Why do you look like you’re having sweet dreams?” Elisa’s voice interrupted her thoughts. She walked into the room, her curious eyes widening as she noticed her mother’s contented expression.

Galatea chuckled softly. “You little brat, you’re getting more and more opinionated. What do you know?”

“I’m not a little kid anymore. Of course, I understand!” Elisa shot back confidently. “In TV shows, people in love smile secretly, just like you did earlier.”

Galatea froze for a moment, her heart skipping a beat. “Do people in love really smile like that? Do I?”

“You better go do your homework now. I want to sleep,” Galatea replied, trying to steer the conversation away before her face betrayed her emotions. She turned over and pulled the blanket over her head, hoping Elisa would take the hint.

Elisa, undeterred, smirked and left the room. As she closed the door behind her, she saw Caspian standing nearby.

“They must be in love this time,” Elisa said with a grin, adopting a grown-up tone. “Soon, I’ll be the daughter of a billionaire. It still feels like a dream.”

“Yeah, then you’ll be a little princess,” Caspian joked. “If you like money, I’ll have Dad give you all the money.”

Elisa rolled her eyes. “Harry, are you out of your mind? Dad might treat us well, but he has a biological son. He’ll inherit everything. You talk as though you’re his real son.”

Caspian chuckled awkwardly. “…”

“By the way, Dad said there’s a banquet tomorrow night,” Elisa continued, her eyes lighting up. “There will definitely be lots of delicious food at such an event. I really want to go!”

Caspian hesitated but still tried to reason with her. “Elisa, those kinds of banquets are crowded and chaotic. It’s not really suitable for us.”

“But I’ve never seen a grand event like that before. I want to go,” Elisa insisted, her frustration growing.

“It’s not suitable for us to attend those formal events,” Caspian replied, trying to calm her down. “How about I take you to buy a gift instead? You can get whatever you want.”

“Really?” Elisa’s eyes sparkled. “Even food I want to eat?”

“Of course!”

Elisa immediately hugged Caspian and kissed him on the cheek. “Harry, I love you so much!”

Caspian blushed slightly, feeling both embarrassed and happy. “I love you too.”

The next afternoon, Galatea had just woken up from her nap when the doorbell rang. Expecting Alaric, she was surprised to find two makeup artists at the door instead. One of them was holding a box containing the dress Alaric had specially ordered for her.

“Hello, Mrs. Knight, we’re the makeup artists Mr. Alaric arranged. We’ve come to do your makeup in advance,” one of the artists said with a professional smile.

Galatea, still a bit dazed from her nap, nodded and allowed them inside.

“You’re naturally beautiful, Mrs. Knight,” the makeup artist commented as she worked on Galatea’s makeup. “I’ve been a makeup artist for many years, but I’ve never seen a woman as beautiful as you.”

Elisa, overhearing this, piped up, “Of course, my mommy is the prettiest!”

Galatea laughed, shaking her head. “You little brat, you’re so outspoken.”

“I’m just telling the truth,” Elisa defended herself. “Children should be honest.”

The makeup artist chuckled and added, “Your daughter is so cute, and she has inherited such excellent genes from you and Mr. Alaric. She looks exactly like a doll.”

Galatea smiled awkwardly at the mention of Alaric. The thought of them looking alike made her heart flutter, though she tried to keep her composure.

Once the makeup was finished, the artists helped Galatea into the dress—a stunning blue evening gown that matched her makeup perfectly.

“Wow, Mommy, you look so beautiful, like a princess from a fairy tale!” Elisa exclaimed, her eyes wide with admiration.

“Yes, Mommy, you’re so beautiful!” Caspian added, clearly impressed.

Before Galatea could respond, the doorbell rang again. It was Alaric.

As soon as he entered, Elisa dragged him over to Galatea. “Daddy, come and see Mommy! Mommy looks so beautiful in the dress!” she said excitedly.

Galatea felt a rush of warmth as Alaric’s gaze landed on her. She lowered her head shyly.

“Daddy, isn’t Mommy stunning?” Elisa asked.

Alaric’s breath caught in his throat for a moment. He had to admit, Galatea looked absolutely breathtaking. With her fresh and elegant makeup, sparkling eyes, and the blue dress that complemented her perfectly, she radiated beauty. But it was more than just her appearance—it was the way she carried herself, the quiet confidence in her aura that made her even more captivating.

“Perfect,” Alaric whispered, his voice filled with admiration.

“Time to go. Shall we?” Alaric asked, holding out his hand.

Galatea, still feeling a little shy, nodded. “Okay.”

“Mom and Dad must have so much fun at the banquet!” Elisa said as she and Caspian watched them leave. Elisa sighed wistfully. “I guess the word ‘perfect’ was tailor-made for them. They’re such a perfect match.”

At the banquet, the atmosphere was nothing short of magnificent. The venue was a grand hall with a classical palace style, blended with a touch of European charm. Everything—from the decorations to the lighting—exuded elegance.

As soon as Alaric entered the hall, all eyes turned toward him. After the accident, he had rarely made public appearances, so tonight’s event was a rare opportunity for everyone to see him in the spotlight once again. His entrance created a stir, and many eyes turned toward Galatea, walking beside him.

“Is this Mr. Alaric’s companion for tonight? She’s so beautiful!” a woman whispered, clearly impressed.

“This is my fiancée, Galatea,” Alaric introduced her casually, but his pride in her was clear.

Galatea smiled gracefully, accepting the role of his fiancée. She responded confidently, “Today, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many business magnates.” Then, with a hint of humor, she added, “I’m Galatea, a doctor.”

“That explains it!” another woman remarked. “No wonder Mr. Alaric chose you. Even female celebrities can’t compare to your beauty.”

“Yes, together, you two make a perfect match. A pair of extraordinary beauties!” another person chimed in.

The praise kept flowing, and Galatea handled it all with grace, feeling Alaric’s approval. He was very satisfied with how she was presenting herself tonight, and Galatea felt a mix of pride and happiness.

But little did she know, as the evening wore on, that things would soon take an unexpected turn…
